  • 58mm backflush portafilter basket to help keep your espresso machine squeaky clean!

Backflush portafilter basket to help keep your home and commercial espresso machines with 3-way valves or E61 grouphead-designs (using the standard 58 mm portafilter*) squeaky clean! Also called a blind filter, backflushing on a regular basis is one of the "secrets" of making great tasting espresso. Regular backflushing helps keep the group screen, diffuser, passageways and 3-way valve clean. Also fits Rancilio home and commercial machines (the list includes but is not limited to: Silvia, Nancy, Audrey, Lucy, L series, S20 series, Epoca and Classe 5,6,7, 8,9,10 and 11 machines), Gaggia (Baby & Classic) ECM & Rocket (as well as other E61 grouphead machines) as well as many others using 58mm baskets.Simplified Backflush Instructions:Using the blind filter replace the portafilter basket with the "blind filter". Put the group handle with the blind filter into the group head (just like you were going to brew a shot). Start a "coffee cycle" and let the pump run approximately 10 seconds; you will hear the pump noise change to a higher pitched sound. Now turn the pump off. Repeat this procedure 3 or 4 times. After the second cycle let the machine sit for about 5 to 20 minutes and let the cleaner do its work. Continue with the last two cycles. When you remove the group handle, you will see all the coffee grounds that were "stuck up" on the gasket and shower. Repeat until the water is clear.
